Farmer, Ryan

Ryan Farmer began service on Clayton City Council as Mayor in 2026 after serving as the Ward 1 Council representative starting in 2024.  A resident of Clayton since 1998, Ryan is very familiar with the city’s history and rural atmosphere.  Events surrounding plans for the northern area of Clayton inspired him to seek a seat on Council to ensure residents would be heard on matters that most affect their way of life and the city’s future.  He is passionate about understanding and communicating impacts of city decisions on residents.

Ryan grew up in Tullahoma, TN and later moved to Las Cruces, NM where he graduated from Las Cruces High School.  He attended the United States Air Force Academy and graduated with a BS in Applied Physics.  He holds a MS in Operational Analysis from the Air Force Institute of Technology at Wright-Patterson AFB.  He served 10 years on Air Force active duty as an operations research analyst, and 22 additional years as a Reservist, retiring from uniform in June 2023 as a Colonel.  He has 10 years' experience in industry as a consultant to the Air Force and is currently a civilian employee at the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center, serving as the Chief of the Vulnerability Reduction Engineering branch.

Ryan is married to Paulette, who grew up in Clayton/Randolph Township, and they have three children.  He enjoys the outdoors working on his property and enjoying cycling adventures on the paved bike trails of the Miami Valley.
