The City of Clayton Finance Department ensures the resources allocated to the municipality is responsibly allocated throughout the various departments to provide the highest level of service possible to our residents and businesses. It provides staff services to other departments; including personnel, purchasing, budget, financial oversight, accounting, and payroll. Ultimately, financial transparency is crucial in our day to day operations and we ensure we maintain this focus through the state of Ohio’s Checkbook Program, which every resident can access at any time to review our fiscal work. In 2018, Clayton was recognized for the 11th consecutive year for Distinguished Budget Award from Government Finance Officers Association as well as the 14th consecutive year for Certificate of Achievement in Financial Reporting from GFOA.
Finance provides for the various accounting and business services needs of the city. This includes general ledger maintenance, accounts receivables and payables, purchasing, payroll, preparation and maintenance of the annual city budgets.
Collection of income taxes, waste collection, and water charges are also processed by the Finance Department. Finance also manages the annual external audit.
